Rocky Mountain National Park

Yesterday we took a great tour of Rocky Mountain National Park (My favorite Park) and Estes Park, Colorado.

It was one of those perfect Colorado days with clear blue skies and mild weather.

The ride up the Big Thompson River Canyon was awesome, with the fall colors and the morning sun shining through the leaves.

Although Trail Ridge Road was closed because of snow, we could still get to a high enough elevation to see some beautiful vistas of mountains and meadows.  The views of Long's Peak were especially breathtaking!

The many herds of Elk roaming the meadows caused some traffic problems but everyone was grateful for the up close and personal views of these great animals.  We also got to see some white tail deer and big horn sheep, but the Elk were definitely the highlight!

The hike around Bear Lake was invigorating at the high altitude of 9500 feet.  Had to stop to catch your breath a few times but the views were worth it.

Today we traveled to the many lakes and streams in the area.  This time of the year the lake levels are very low and the moderate snow did hamper or visibility a little, but it added to the interesting perspectives we observed.
