Trip - 500 miles
Log -1091 miles
We departed Red Wing early in the morning and had a beautiful day for travel. Sunshine and clear skies.
Traveled through beautiful corn fields and wind farms (must have seen 1000 giant wind turbines).
Stopped in Des Moines and had a nice visit and lunch with my dear cousin Mary. Enjoyed our 3 hour visit to catch up on things.
Arrived in Topeka early for a overnight stay, heading for Abileen tomorrow.

Historic Red Wing!
It is so good to be with our family in Red Wing!
We spend the day catching up on things and seeing Jonas play flag football on Saturday. Then went to Bay Point Park on the Mississippi and saw the biggest pumpkins on earth.
Torie found the Chevy on the Levy so got a special treat!
Sunday was a beautiful day for a walk in the park. We also got to see a great Viking game where Brett was able to win the game in the final seconds!
Monday we visited the pretty historic homes and downtown Red Wing area. In the 19th century it was a boom town with all kinds of things going on. In 1874 Red Wing had more tons of wheat shipped than any other port in the world!
It was also one of the nations largest producers of pottery because of the great clay resource along the banks of the Mississippi River. It was a great advantage to live on the river in those days since that was the primary mode of transportation.
On Tuesday we spent the day in St Paul at the Mall of America and it was unbelievable the size of that mall.
Linda loved the shopping!
We had a wonderful time and it was sad to say goodbye to the Harts.

Log - 591 miles
We just had to stop in Chippewa Falls, WI and have a Leinie or two at the brewery. Oh it tasted so good!
Mostly rain today in Wisconsin on our short trip to Red Wing.
The Mississippi River looked beautiful as we crossed the bridge into Red Wing, what a beautiful little town!

Wausau Wisconsin!
Trip - 403 miles
Log - 403 miles
Our first day trip was a long one but very beautiful. Across the Big Mac Bridge into the UP of Michigan and into Northern WI.
It was a perfect travel day, mild tempertures (mid 70's) and bright sunshine!
The fall colors were just beautiful and most of the back roads were interesting and we saw a lot of turkeys and deer.
Abbey was a good dog on the trip and enjoyed her stops along the way.
Tomorrow we will be in Red Wing, MN with the Hart Family, looking forward to that.
Best of the Day - The beautiful Fall colors!
